I haven't blogged in about a week. Nothing much going on. Just work, home and then off to work again. We have been enjoying a few days in a row with no rain. Still cold and gloomy.
Sometimes I hate this time of year. The christians come out and preach about their holiday. They have proved now that Jesus was not born in December, but actually much earlier in the year. They will not admit they made up a story of his birth so it would coincide with the Pagan's Yule (Winter's Solstice) holiday. The decorated tree is actually a Pagan tradition that the christians' stole and have made it their own as an example. It's okay, whatever path that brings you peace is alright. But please do not preach to non-believers, it just annoys us. Sometimes on FB certain people want to spout their beliefs on my wall. I just tell them to go to their wall and start these types of discussions. Then I remove their comments. These are my views, I could be wrong. Just think about it when you are forcing your views down someone's throat that they may be on a different path and without proof you may be wrong.

It has been raining for several days. Makes the days seem gloomy. I hate driving home in the dark when it is raining. With age, my eyesight just isn't what it used to be. But at least no snow is predicted for the holiday weekend. Two more days of work and 4 glorious days off. We are hoping the weather will improve a little over the weekend, so we can venture out in the backwoods and collect twigs, branches, pinecones and maybe a feather to two. Because of space in the apartment instead of a Yule tree, we have decided to an arrangement with twigs and branches and glitter pinecone and glass owl ornaments. But first the Gratitude Ritual meal of roasted turkey breast, cornbread stuffing, roasted brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes with brown sugar and lemon glaze, whole berry cranberry relish, ambrosia fruit salad and cherry pie for dessert. We will be eating like kings all weekend! No Black Friday sales for me this year. Boycotting all the big box stores and most of the fast food places, including Papa Johns. They do not need my money! A nice drive out in the country and maybe go to the movies over the long weekend.
So many things to be thankful and grateful this year. We still have our feet on planet earth and our health issues hopefully are getting better. At least they are not worse. Our children are on their own path and making it through the world. We lost our faithful friend and companion Sammie this year. I still miss him, but cherish the years we had together. We had a trying year with health concerns and money concerns, but we are surviving. This coming year we will still have the issues with the VA. But that's life...good times and bad. And yet 32 years later we are still together, stronger than ever.

I am such a procrastinator!! I did put the pork in the crockpot, made pineapple upside down cupcakes and a couple loads of laundry, but I have not even started tackling the closet. I did fold alot of clothes to be put up on the shelf in the closet. Does that count? Nope, didn't think so. I might at least get those put up on the shelf....but the rest may wait until tomorrow.
News of the day:
I am on the side of the Palestinians and Michael is on the side of Israel. Best to avoid this subject and just watch happens and hope and pray the U.S. does not get involved.
I will miss Hostess and their snowballs...but there is Little Debbies...Just think of the calories I do not need to consume.
Have fun on your Asia trip, Mr President. Make us look good and stay safe.
Thanksgiving is coming next week. Pagans celebrate Mabon in the fall which is in October. To be part of this November thankfulness you can think about an alternative and have a Gratitude Ritual

The movie was fantastic. If you are a history and a political junkie like I am, you will love this film. It made me wonder if he had not been assassinated, what wonderful things he could have accomplished. It also made me think that no matter how much things change there is so much that remains the same. It is funny how the political parties have flipped flopped. Back in Lincoln's day the democrats were old southern conservative men. Have things ever changed! I've been a liberal democrat my whole life. My political life started with John Kennedy, continued with George McGovern, flourished with Bill Clinton and has been affirmed with Barack Obama.
It was a nice Friday. Lunch down in the Garland District, movie, a little shopping and a nice evening at home. Who could ask for more?
Tomorrow while it is cold and rainy outside, I work on the closet organization project with hopes that it will be completed. We bought a nice pork roast destined for the crock pot tomorrow. It will be simmered in diet cola, Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and seasonings. Once completely done it will be shredded and put on toasted sesame buns with coleslaw. Oh it will be good!

Saoirse means freedom in Gaelic. Pronounced Sheer-shaw. My past blogs have always used this name in one way or another. This blog is where I just want to explore the things I like. It has taken so many years, 60 to be exact to learn who I am and what I am. Witch, Pagan, Wife, Friend all in one person. Still evolving. Welcome to my journey.
It is Thursday evening, which is MY Friday, because I have almost every Friday off. So nice to have a stream of 3 day weekends. This weekend there are errands to be run, a trip to the VA for my husband, shopping for the Thanksgiving meal for next week and maybe a stop at the craft store. There are tasks I want to accomplish. I am rearranging and organizing my bedroom walk-in closet. Going to use books for shelf dividers to keep the clothes from falling over. Need to find and purchase 2 under the bed shoe organizers. That will give us more floor space in the closet. Once that is completed, we will be ready to re-arrange the bedroom furniture.
Our other plans right now is to go and see the movie Lincoln, which is being released tomorrow. Sally Field is one of my favorite actresses, so it will be great to see her in this dramatic role. I saw an interview with her last week. She was actually turned down for this role as Mary Todd because of her age, but she fought for it and got it. Makes me want to see this movie all the more.
